Citizen USA

On Thursday, August 19th, 2011, Pimpreya June George became a citizen of the United States of America.

Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, June was naturalized in a beautiful, historic ceremony at Mount Rushmore, in the Black Hills. Over ninety participants from South Dakota were granted citizenship that day.

Our memories of June's naturalization ceremony are memorable:

To start with, and thanks to a few dear friends, Governor Rounds actually declared the day 'June George' day in the state of South Dakota. Of course, June was as honored as she was humbled by this delightful surprise.

Also, and as luck would have it, Alexandra Pelosi, a wonderful documentary filmmaker, happened to be in attendance to chronicle the ceremony and capture the unique and inspiring stories of the immigrants.

Well, as it turns out, June was one of the few selected to be interviewed, photographed and filmed, as she celebrated the afternoon, and marked the important occassion.

We now have the good fortune of announcing that, on June 29th, 2011, Filmdrome will host the premiere of, "Citizen USA: A 50 State Road Trip", in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The event is free and open to the public.

We've also come to learn, rather unexpectedly, and elatedly, that the image of June holding the USA flag, adorns the official HBO movie poster. We've received excited emails and phone calls from friends, "Look in the NYTimes!" "Check out Entertainment Weekly!" And now, a bus stop in New York City!
