The Future of the Book

Itala Calvino, who named the 20th century the millennium of the book, compiled a series of essays, collected in, "Six Memos for the Next Millennium". When confronted with the thought of the speculation of what the future would hold for the platform of the book, the medium he loved so dearly, he responded thus:

"My confidence in the future of literature consists in the knowledge that there are things that only literature can give us, by means specific to it."
